Gas Gathering System and Plant Inlet Separation Design

This one-day course is designed to familiarize technical professionals with the design of gas gathering lines and plant inlet separation. The equations that have been developed for pressure drop estimation are reviewed, with emphasis on understanding the assumptions involved in some of the simplifications in the equations. Methods for preventing the formation of hydrates and the control of internal pipe corrosion are covered in detail, with emphasis on the effects of sour gas in this regard. Pipe design parameters, such as grade, required wall thickness and optimum diameter are explained. The design of line looping for increasing throughput is covered. An Excel spreadsheet program for calculating pressure drop in horizontal gas flow and temperature drop in gas lines is included, along with design calculations for line-looping and Flanigan’s method of two-phase flow calculations, and plant inlet separator sizing. A complete set of course materials and lunch are included.
